JDS Uniphase Corporation (JDSU) innovates and markets diverse technologies that enhance the way people experience the world every day. The products and technologies from JDSU enable fast, high-quality communications, secure financial transactions, reliable consumer electronics, green energy, differentiated brands and a host of other solutions. JDSU provide these solutions through three business segments: Communications Test and Measurement, Communications and Commercial Optical Products, and Advanced Optical Technologies.
Dr. Zhilong Rao received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2008 from Stanford, where he worked with Prof. James Harris on developing high-intensity nano-aperture Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) for near-field optical applications. Currently, he holds a Senior Product Engineer position within the Communications and Commercial Optical Products division of JDSU, where he is responsible for managing semiconductor laser and detector products for fiber optic communications. Prior to joining JDSU, he worked as a Technologist in the office of Chief Technology Officer at Applied Materials Inc.
